Opportunities for Inter-Parish Cooperation

Our unique location nestled among other parishes allows for certain ministries to be share by the five Churches in the area: Holy Family, St. John the Baptist, St. Josaphat, St. Lucy, and St. Mary of the Assumption. Parishioners from all the parishes work together to minister to people in the five Manayunk parishes in specific ways. Participating in these ministries affords the opportunity to meet our neighbors in Christ in the area. The Director of Inter-Parish Ministries oversees all of the shared ministries.

Eucharistic Adoration Chapel

The chapel os open from 9:00am to 9:00pm every day is located on the ground floor of St. Mary of the Assumption church; the entrance is from the parking lot. Individuals ahve an opportunity to deepen their relationship with God by praying for personal intentions as well as those of our community and the world. Adorers commit to being with the Eucharist at a specific time each week. Even if you cannot commit to a specific time, the Lord is always there to welcome you with loving arms. Stop in for a visit.

Baptisms

Pre-Jordan - (Baptismal Preparation)

Baptisms are celebrated during our weekend Masses for infants. Parents and Godparents are required to attend our Pre-Jordan program.

Recognizing that parents have the primary responsibility to pass the Catholic faith on to their children, a team of parishioners share their faith experience with new parents and godparents, offering support and encouragement in preparation for the Sacrement of Baptism. The sessions are informal and afford the opportunity to meet other new parents. If you have a gift for sharing your faith and a passion for parenting, this ministry is for you.

Pre-Cana (Marriage Preparation)

Marriages may take place on Friday evening, Saturday afternoon or during any of our weekend Masses. All engaged couples must attend our Pre-Cana program at least six months before their wedding.

In the Pre-Cana program, a team of couples share their marriage experiences with couples preparing for the Sacrament of Marriage. Members of the team give presentations on various aspects of marriage and spiritually support engaged couples as they journey towards the sacrament.

If you have a gift for sharing and a love for marriage, consider joining this team.

Prep (CCD)

The Parish Religious Educaion Program is committed to teaching the Gospel of Jesus to children, grades 1-8 who do not attend a Catholic school. The program prepares the children to become active members of the Christian community and to share in the ministry of Christ. Adult volunteer support this mission by serving as catechists for our classes held on Tuesday evenings, from 7:00-8:15pm, from September through May.

RCIA

The RCIA, the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, is for adults who are not baptized or for those who have been baptized and desire to receive the Sacraments of Eucharist and/or Confirmation. A team of people share their fair and support candidates on their spiritual journey. Hospitality and willingness to share your faith are the important gifts needed for this ministry.

Special Events

A group of people combine for special events shared by the five parishes, such as Blood Drive, Lenten Journey, and Penance Services. It's a great way to meet people, to support the Manayunk area and to build a greater sense of community and solidarity amongst the five local Catholic parishes.

Coordinator: [TBA - Contact the office if you would like to volunteer.]
